Ketamine

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) weaves together ketamine and psychotherapy to support emotional healing and well-being, and may help ease the weight of depression, anxiety, and trauma.

Ketamine can gently shift our usual ways of thinking and feeling, creating space to soften our defenses, step outside usual patterns, and meet ourselves with greater curiosity and compassion.

In the space of a supportive therapeutic relationship, these experiences can open the heart and bring forth new insights. Through preparation, presence, and integration, we tune into curiosity and allow inner healing intelligence to guide the session.

What is ketamine?

Ketamine has been used in the medical field for over 50 years, originally as an anesthetic because of its ability to relieve pain and create a temporary shift in consciousness. More recently it's been used for its antidepressant effects, particularly for people who have not found relief through other treatments. Today, ketamine is used in a variety of medical settings and is offered as therapy for depression, anxiety and post traumatic stress, in forms such as intravenous infusions, injections, nasal spray, or dissolvable lozenges.

The Process

  • Contact me for a phone call to explore whether KAP feels like a good fit for you.

  • If we both feel KAP might be a good fit for you, connect with one of the two Nurse Practitioners I collaborate with to schedule a medical intake. Together, you and the NP will determine whether KAP is safe and appropriate.

  • If you are medically cleared for KAP, purchase your ketamine lozenges through the pharmacy used by the NP.

  • Schedule our preparation, KAP, and integration sessions. Preparation sessions are one hour, KAP sessions are typically three hours, and three KAP sessions are recommended over a period of three weeks. Each integration session is one hour.
